Cape Breton Pork Pies
Mini meat pies hailing from Nova Scotia, traditionally made during the holidays, filled with seasoned pork and warm spices.

- 1 cup butter, softened

- 2 1/4 cups chopped pitted dates 1 cup water
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- icing
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon maple extract
